Happy new year and an update

Good evening to you all.

I am so sorry I haven't posted in such a long time. Since my course finished I found myself rather unsettled and all over the shop.

I now find myself more settled and enjoyed a very quiet Christmas with hubby and kiddies.

I am posting an update now on moon goddess who I haven't been able to put down and as such I finished page 7 and made a great start on page 8.  Here is how she currently looks after 3 years work. Hopefully 2015 will prove to be a more productive year on the stitching front.

I also want to wish everyone a fantastic new year and I hope 2015 brings you nothing but joy and happiness.

Until next time

Good Evening

Good Evening to you all.

I am afraid to say that I do not have much progress to show you this week so far as I've only been picking up a needle now and then....my bug is slowly disappearing again for some reason.

When I have wanted to stitch I have started to make some ornaments for some little ones that I know so they can hang them on their mummy's (grandma's) Christmas tree this year.

Here is a little bit of progress as of last night.

As per usual, the design is by Joan Elliott as I think her little ornaments are just brilliant. Hopefully when I next update it will be finished and another started.

Until next time

JE SAL and Wings in Repose HAED UPDATE

Good Morning to you all.

It has been a rather dull grey start to the day here today and only now is the sun starting to show up :) I thought I would post a little update on the stitching front as late.

I've mostly worked on Wings in Repose HAED by Nene Thomas and I have to say that I have thoroughly enjoyed it. Here is how that is looking today:

The majority of colours left in this page are light so I can only work on these during the day as I can't really see them in the evening without a lamp. I may invest in a new one for my birthday in 2 weeks time LOL.

I have also been working on the Joan Elliott Faces SAL that I am taking part in on Facebook.

Here is the progress on that:

Face one complete except for the beads which will all be added at the end so not to crush them in the Q-Snap and the start on Face two. There is a little kitty cat to go in the middle box, but I want to change the colours to all grey in remembrance of my cat Murphy who went missing 18months ago.

Murphy
I am going to carry on stitching the second face today as the light is not that great yet, I will hopefully have more updates for you all soon.

Until next time

HELLO!!!!! I'm back

Good evening to you all.

My course is now over an done with, I took the exam last Wednesday and so fingers crossed I do not have to resit it.

I haven't been able to fully settle down yet after the stress of revision and so on and for that reason I only picked up my stitching properly today. I've decided that for the time being while waiting for my stitchy bug to flood back in to work on a HAED. Also hoping my eyes adjust to the little holes again too.

I will hopefully have an update on all things stitchy in the next few days or so.

I am so glad that it's ore and I have time for me again.

I hope you are all well.

Until next time

Stitching Progress

Good Evening to you all.

As my previous post mentioned, I have been doing some stitching over the last few months and now comes the pictures of my progress.

I won't be stitching for a little while now while I make an attempt at revision for the upcoming exam in September...oh boy am I dreading it haha.

Anyways here is all my progress:

Heather's RR piece
Pages 1-6 completed on Moon Goddess HAED
The start of a moomin chart (my old favourite cartoon LOL)
Joan Elliott fantasy dragon...SAL
Joan Elliott Mystery Faces SAL
I don't think I've done too bad in between submitting assignments :) Here's to hoping now that my brain can absorb and remember information so I can pass this exam and get back to my stitching.

Until next time

Cross Stitch Tag

Good Evening to you all. I hope you are all keeping well and dandy in this unusually hot day for the UK. Myself and the family have not long got back from a good old trek up the Brecon Beacons and oh boy was it a long walk.

Home now and after a nice cold shower I'm about to settle back down to some stitching, but before I do, I thought I would join in the Cross Stitch Tag questions.

Here are the questions and my answers:

Q1 - How did you start?  Who introduced you to cross stitching?
Back in 2008/9 I had been given some money for Christmas, so decided to have a look in HobbyCraft as they had a sale on (I used to make cards prior to stitching). Upon entering and wandering about the store, I spotted a tiger cross stitch kit by DMC called Wash and Brush Up and I just had to have it. I’ve been stitching ever since. I was introduced to stitching whilst I was in school at the age of around 6/7 but my mum also does cross stitch.

Q2 - Favourite theme or designer
My favourite designer of all time has definitely got to be Joan Elliott. She does the most amazing faces on fairies I have ever seen. Favourite themes I suppose are mythical and tigers.

Q3 - What brand of floss do you use?
DMC all the way. It is so soft and it doesn’t dry my hands out like Anchor used to.

Q4 - What is your fabric of choice?
28ct Evenweave hand dyed by Polstitches. I don’t think I could go back to using plain fabrics except for HAED’s.

Q5 - Do you use a needle threader or are you a floss licker?
I’m a floss licker LOL. I do not get on with needle threaders, I always seem able to bend and snap those.

Q6 - What brand of stitching frame (or hoop or otherwise holder) do you use?
I use a Q Snap frame. I don’t get on with hoops or roller frames so well.

Q7 - How many projects have you finished?
I have completed 4 large projects, and lots of little projects.

Q8 - How many completed works are hanging in your house?
I have 2 waiting to be reframed before hanging up.

Q9 - Do you stitch for gifts or for yourself?
I mostly stitch for myself, but have made gifts for others.

Q10 - Favourite finished cross stitch piece
My favourite has to be Summer Fairy by Joan Elliott. She was the most challenging yet enjoyable to stitch.

Q11 - Worst experience whilst stitching?
I used to use a pen when marking off my chart when I was working on Summer Fairy, and I hadn’t realised that the lid had fallen off and the pen was leaking onto the hand dyed fabric…the pen was bright orange and the fabric had no orange in it whatsoever.

Q12 - What do you love and hate about cross stitch?
I hate it when the thread tangles and then you lose your place stitching. I love how relaxing cross stitching is, I get lost in my own little counting world.

Q13 - Have you introduced anyone else to cross stitching?
I introduced my sister to cross stitching.

Q14 - The first project, did you finish it?
Yes I did. It took me a whole year to finish it (it was stitched on black aida too).

Q15 - How do you store your floss?
They are all on bobbins in storage boxes in numerical order.

Are you willing to play? I'd love to read your answers :D

I am hoping to have a page finish soon on a project I'm working on and then I will show you all.

Until next time.

I'm back!!

Good Morning to you all.

I am pleased to say that I have finally passed the first half of my course, with my last assignment scoring 95%. I have a small break now before revision starts for the exam that is coming up in September, so I can enjoy some stitching and days out with the family.

I hope that everyone is doing well, and I hope to have some updates soon (just need to see what is calling me the most first).

I do have to say though that I have a new start. I joined a Faces of Joan Elliott Mystery SAL and so far I'm loving it. I'm stitching it on a piece of fabric bought for me by Heather which is called Friendship (Polstitches fabric). I plan on having some pics to show soon as I only started stitching the first face on Saturday evening).

Hopefully I can be productive whilst I'm feeling unwell....here's to hoping anyways.

Until next time

I'm sorry it has been a while

Good Evening to you all!!

I'm sorry it has been a while since my last stitching post, but my course has quite literally taken over my life, and if I'm honest, I'm hating the course too.

I've not long submitted an assignment, a half attempted couldn't be bothered half done one at that. I've now declared that from now until Monday, I'm doing nothing but stitching.

On the weekends, I take my stitching to my father in law's house and here is my progress on the two projects I've worked on (not enough time to pull out my HAED's).

Spring Fairy

Swirling Peacock

and a few months late, here is how my TUSAL jar is looking

On another note, I've also been completely smoke free for 2 months, 11 days and I have to say I'm feeling fantastic. I haven't yet given up the nicotine though, as I'm using an electronic cigarette.  The one thing I have noticed since quitting though is that I can't seem to sit still for long, I have to get up and do something lol.

I'm now tonight going to pull out my Wings in Repose HAED and try and get the first page done by Monday, fingers crossed I can if I can sit still for long enough.

Until next time

I'm still around

Hello everyone!!

I'm sorry I haven't really posted in a while, but my course has literally taken over my life. I have spent this weekend doing some stitching, but as of tomorrow (Monday) it is back to the books for me.

I am looking forward to this course being over and done with as so far I haven't really enjoyed it at all.

Hope you are all well and stitching/crafting loads.

Until next time

Turtle Trot 2014

Good Morning again folks

I do hope that we are all well and enjoying this little bit of sunshine we are having at the moment. I for one am, but do wish it could be slightly (and I do mean very slightly) warmer, my poor hands still turn blue in the breeze.

I have only really worked on one project this time around as I have been so busy reading for my next assignment (I'm reading it, but it doesn't appear to be sinking in just yet).

For the last month I have been working on my Wings in Repose HAED.

Here is what it looked like before:

and here is how it is looking now:

I have to say that I have loved every single stitch I've put into this HAED and my fingers are itching to get back to it. Why oh why did I sign up to do a course?! LOL

I hope that we are all well, I can't wait until I can have a couple of days break to catch up on everyone's blogs and get a few stitches in too.

Until next time

Late TUSAL report

Good Morning to all.

I'm so sorry I haven't been posting much, my course seems to have taken over my life. I have managed a few stitches, mostly done on the weekends when the kids are extremely loud :)

Here is this month's TUSAL report:

Good Evening to all.

Just a quick post to say I'm still around but I am trying to get my first assignment done for my course. As soon as it is done I will be posting both my Jan 30th Tusal and my Turtle Trot progress...although not much has been done.

I hope you are all keeping well in this wild weather we are all experiencing.

Turtle Trot January 2014

Good Afternoon to all.

Today is the first day of the Turtle Trot 2014. If you would like to take a look and join in, visit here.

I posted up the projects I would be doing for the Turtle Trot 2014 (please take a look at the page dedicated to this).

Here are my progress pictures for this month. I worked on 12 Days of Christmas, Spring Fairy and a Round Robin I need to get done.

Here is my progress:

12 Days of Christmas - Joan Elliott
12 Days of Christmas - Day 6 completed
Round Robin
Spring Fairy - Joan Elliott.

I have to say that I have enjoyed working on Spring Fairy again, but I think my HAED's also need some attention. For the rest of today I plan on working on the RR that I need to get done. Saturday to Monday I plan on giving my HAED's some attention :)

Until next time

Another Turtle Trot piece

Yesterday afternoon I had a sort out of my magazines and came across another project I had started but not finished.

It's by Rhona Norrie from the world of cross stitching issue 209.

This is where I'm up to so far:

I will add a pic to the turtle trot page when I'm on the main computer.

I'm now going to work on it tonight for a bit.

Until next time
