Stitching Progress

Good Evening to you all.

As my previous post mentioned, I have been doing some stitching over the last few months and now comes the pictures of my progress.

I won't be stitching for a little while now while I make an attempt at revision for the upcoming exam in September...oh boy am I dreading it haha.

Anyways here is all my progress:

Heather's RR piece
Pages 1-6 completed on Moon Goddess HAED
The start of a moomin chart (my old favourite cartoon LOL)
Joan Elliott fantasy dragon...SAL
Joan Elliott Mystery Faces SAL
I don't think I've done too bad in between submitting assignments :) Here's to hoping now that my brain can absorb and remember information so I can pass this exam and get back to my stitching.

Until next time

Turtle Trot January 2014

Good Afternoon to all.

Today is the first day of the Turtle Trot 2014. If you would like to take a look and join in, visit here.

I posted up the projects I would be doing for the Turtle Trot 2014 (please take a look at the page dedicated to this).

Here are my progress pictures for this month. I worked on 12 Days of Christmas, Spring Fairy and a Round Robin I need to get done.

Here is my progress:

12 Days of Christmas - Joan Elliott
12 Days of Christmas - Day 6 completed
Round Robin
Spring Fairy - Joan Elliott.

I have to say that I have enjoyed working on Spring Fairy again, but I think my HAED's also need some attention. For the rest of today I plan on working on the RR that I need to get done. Saturday to Monday I plan on giving my HAED's some attention :)

Until next time

A RR Finish :)

Good Morning to all.

I was meant to update my blog yesterday, but until late last night, I complete forgot about it.

Last week my rotation plans went right out the window as I started to stitch extra's onto a robin while the one lady is out of the country. Here is another mouse I finished:

He is an adorable little fellow but oh my that back stitch was a right pain in the you know what to do. My hands were extremely sore afterwards.

Over the weekend I managed to work on Moon Goddess, but last night I gave the entire project a wash. I'm now about to unroll her from the towel to iron her so I will take a picture of her then and edit this post with my progress. While she is drying, I am going to be working on Winter Fairy.

I have myself a lamp and oh boy what a difference it makes in stitching. It is a normal halogen light but I can make it bright or dim it down. It's made a heck of a difference in stitching, so much so that without my lamp now, I'm as slow as a snail stitching :)

I will update later with pictures from Moon Goddess  :)

EDIT: Here is Moon Goddess:

As you can see page 4 is almost complete and page 7 has been started on the left. I still have to stitch 1 full page and 1 partial until the top row is complete.

Until next time

Flying off the needle :)

Good Morning!!!

I have to say that this week I have been busily stitching.....but not on 12 Days LOL.

I have however stitched up more on the RR that I am part of.

I stitched in place of another lady who went out of the country.

Here are my finishes so far:

Another square on a Halloween themed RR

My little mouse stitched on a Mice themed RR
I also have new fabric. Polstitches had left over monthly limited edition fabric, so put it up for sale. I had to have a piece. This is October's Limited Edition called Crushed Apple.

28ct Crushed Apple Opalescent from Polstitches
Today I plan on finishing up the second mouse that I'm stitching for the lady who went away and then I have no idea what to stitch Friday to Sunday.

I will have another update for you all on Monday :)

I hope that you all keep warm in this chilly weather. I'm really feeling the cold now :)

Until next time

Good Evening!! I have Finishes :) :)

Good Evening everyone!!

How are we all keeping in the changing of the seasons? I can really feel the cold weather on (my joints ache like crazy), I can also smell it in the air (sounds bizarre right....but it has a fresher smell LOL).

Right, onto my finishes. In my last post I mentioned that I was stitching a RR and also trying to finish the Star Trek sampler for hubby.

I am now happy to report they are both done :) Hubby is over the moon with the Star Trek, and is now eager to go shopping for a frame.

Here are pictures of the finished articles:

Halloween RR finished 6th Sept 2013
Star Trek Sampler started 18th Aug 2013 finished 8th Sept
I am now sorting out a rotation for my other stitching and through your help and comments I've decided this:

Monday to Friday - 12 Days of Christmas
Saturday - Charlie Bear
Sunday - Spring Fairy

The Saturday slot is still a bit undecided but should I change my mind, I will stitch on my HAED ornament instead.

I hope that you are enjoying your crafting.

Until next time

Stitching, Outing and A New Make

Hellooooooooooo everyone!!

Well, this last week has been a rather busy week on all fronts.

  1. I learnt to make something new
  2. Page 1 of Spring Fairy is completed bar the backstitch
  3. We went out for the day on Saturday and I am now sunburnt
First of all though, I have to show off the something new I made. I've always been in awe of how to make these very pretty things called scissor fobs. So off I went to ebay and I bought myself some lobster clasp things (I already had the beads) and this is what I made:

Swarvoski Crystal Beads
Now, I think it is fab apart from the size of the lobster clasp, so I bought another bunch which are a lot smaller so when I get a chance, I will try and make another one using the smaller clasp. This took me about an hour to make as the thread I used (clear nylon thread) is extremely fiddly and very hard for me to see.

Now onto the stitching front. I have managed to complete the first page of stitching on my Spring Fairy and I am now in progress of doing the kreinik and backstitch. Here is how she is looking as of this morning:

Isn't the bunny just cute
I am hoping that today will see a heck of a load more backstitching done on her as I'm eager to start the next part of her.

I have also completed a square on a RR that I received. I am currently working in a RR where we all have picked our own separate themes. This RR had the theme of flowers, and here is what I stitched:

This took me about a day and half to complete and I just love the colours.

On Saturday, we went to a place called Bovington where we visited The Tank Museum for the annual Tankfest.  It was a great day had by all, but oh boy, myself and hubby are burnt lol.  Every few hours we are now plying ourselves with lotion to stop the stinging and itching.  I always catch the sun and so should have known to put some Sun Protection on, but I completely forgot about it haha. My fault.

Here are some pics of the hubby and kiddies:

Hubby with his new toy. A deactivated Russian weapon
Grace having a hold
Tristan having a hold
and last but not least my little cutie pie, who seemed to also enjoy the day.

Now if I plan on having more of Spring Fairy backstitched today, I'd better get a wriggle on.

I hope to have another update for you all soon.

Happy Crafting all

TUSAL and a stitching update

Well, good evening everyone!

I'm a day late in posting my TUSAL report, but here it is. As you can see from the picture, I've had a very busy stitching month :) The threads in this jar come mainly from my HAED Moon Goddess, but also from my fairy RR.

Next up: I have finished getting my RR ready, and have now finished 2 fairies. It is now ready for the first posting date on the 22nd June.

I have had a tough time with the second fairy (Lavender Fairy - left in the pic) as if there is one colour I don't like, it is green LOL.

Below are a few pictures of my completed part of the Robin.

The whole RR

Lavender Fairy (L) and Snowdrop Fairy (R)
Now that this RR is packed up and ready for flight, I've decided that I want to get a wriggle on with both Spring Fairy and Winter Fairy by Joan Elliott. Being that the fabric is so dark for Winter Fairy, I've also decided that in daytime hours (9am-7pm) I will stitch Winter Fairy, and in the evenings I will stitch Spring Fairy.

I will update again once I have done a few more stitches on both.

Until next time, keep covered in this blistering sunshine we are having.

A Large Update - Lots of Pics

Well hello everyone!!

I hope everyone is doing well. We have had some lovely weather here in South Wales, UK, until today that is. Today it has been raining most of the day :(

However, sunny or not, I have been a busy bee.  Myself and a few friends decided to start up a little Round Robin (RR). We decided to do a theme each, and so I decided that I would do a Joan Elliott one.

I have so many JE charts that I highly doubt I'll ever get around to stitching so it was the perfect thing for me.

I chose my 8 designs, photocopied them and cut them down to a 60x60 stitch size. I also went shopping as we are stitching this RR onto aida, and I haven't any (what a great excuse), so I purchased some lovely fabric from Polstitches called Dawn Chorus.

Here is my fabric pictured with the charts I'm using:

I then went shopping once again for the specialty threads beads and so popped to 123stitch where I bought these:

As soon as my fabric arrived, I ironed it and sewed over the edges of the fabric to stop it fraying and made a start on the layout.  The below picture shows the layout I have chosen (the centre 4 boxes will be unpicked to become a title square where along with a title, the names of the stitchers and the fairies they stitched will go).

As you can see from the picture above, I also have room to add another 4 fairies if I chose to :)

The black outlines of the boxes are there only as a guide and once returned home, I will unpick and add a sparkle border with co-ordinating threads.

I have very nearly finished my first square on my robin (pictured below) and as soon as she is complete I will be making a start on the central box.

Snowdrop Fairy by Joan Elliott

If you are still with me, I hope you have enjoyed seeing my progress since my last post.

Until my next update, I do so hope you have a brilliant crafty time and take care.
