Help!! So many WIP's!!

Right, I have so many projects on the go and as yet I'm to have a big finish on any of them.

I'm thinking of doing a rotation of sorts and would like some advice from those who work with rotation.

How do you organise your rotation and does it help you finish projects?

Would love to read your comments and thoughts on this.

  1. I mostly stitch one project a time so I also wanted to know how to do rotation :)

  2. I have 4 projects on the go. So my rotation is I swap between my two larger projects every week. On the weekend I work on my smaller project and my fourth wip whenever the person I'm working on it foe is out the house. I don't think it helps finish projects any quicker but it does give you a greater variety to work on:)

  3. I do rotations but not so always. It depends on the duration and number of pieces. How I do is, lets say I want to rotate every month, then I will keep only 15-17 projects to work for 15-17 days a month, each one for single day. For remaining days, I will pick up any one of these 15-17 projects and work more on that to finish within a month. I try to complete one in a month. I cannot wait for months to complete. This way it gives me a satisfaction of working on all as well as completing one. When one is completed, I add one more new project to that schedule. But ideally, no planning works ;) I saw your link on Heather's post.

  4. I sort of have a rotation but it often falls apart as life gets in the way sometimes. Here is my very shaky structure:
Sundays - SAL with Linda and Debbie of PS santas
Mondays - Cut Thru SAL with Linda and Debbie and lots of others
Tuesdays - I try to stitch all things Tudor (just a SAL with myself)
Wednesdays - Songs of Christmas II SAL (sort of fallen by the wayside)
Other nights - whatever I feel like
On the train to work - I stitch smalls.

But, at the moment I am part of a Joan Elliott Round Robin so I am actually stitching that every chance I get.

    I hope that this helps.

    hugs, Kaye

  5. I used to be a one-project-at-a-time kinda gal until I came across blogging a few weeks ago and found out that not everyone finishes one thing at once...I now have about 7 projects on the go so am interested to see how other stitchers rotate their projects!

  6. I have sort of a rotation like Kaye above, but I love to stitch something different everyday, sometimes several in the same day! Yesterday I stitched on 5 different things. LOL! I just enjoy stitching and I try not to have too many deadlines to get stressed about.
Sundays - SAL with Linda and Kaye of PS Santas
Mondays - Cut Thru SAL with Linda and Kaye and 20+ others
    Tuesdays - whatever
    Wednesdays - whatever
    Thursdays - whatever
    Fridays - Halloween House
Saturdays - Thankful Critters or Santa Hang-Up SAL with Linda

I highly recommend SALs because that's a great incentive to keep up with a project and compare your progress with others and cheer each other on!

  7. Thank you for visiting my blog.

I've done various rotations over the years and at the time each one worked for me but right now I'm working alternate weeks on 2 projects but spend my weekends with the same project so I can cross it off my PHD list.
My rule for picking a new weekend project is that I must of started it before Jan 1st this year.

I've done the certain days on certain projects like some those above and I've done the 10 hours and move on to the next.
All I can say is keep trying different ones until you find one that works for you

  8. Hi, my name is Cinzia, from Italy, and here is my experience: I used to stitch no more than two projects at the time, and not big ones, until I discovered Haed, Scarlet Quince and so on, and now I have two Haed, a Scarlet Quince, a Passione Ricamo and God knows how many more started around, so a few months ago I started working on them for one straight week each, and I must tell you, I loved it! I was working on them from Wednesday to Tuesday, and by Sunday my hands were itching to get to the next project, though when my husband piped in saying " but like that it will take you for ever to complete anything!" did raise quiet a few doubts... Who asked him anyways... Than life got in between me and my rotation and I had to stop it, but am thinking to get back to it and see if it will work that well for me again.
