Another update here :)

Well, first of all I wish to just shout "I HAVE OFFICIALLY FINISHED MY COURSE!!!!!!!", now I can get back to stitching :D

I have managed some more on my fairy, although not a great deal as I've been trying to get used to using my floor stand/frame, it is a 36" maxi clip frame from sew and so, and boy is it going to take me a while lol.

For now, here is how my fairy is looking:

I even managed to do the second butterfly, with french knots included (I'm going to sound totally off my trolly right now, but I actually enjoyed doing them, and think they came out better than the last french knots I did on the first butterfly).  Here is the second butterfly, with neater french knots:

I also have another few pics to show you.  As you will remember, I took part in an Autumn Exchange and here is what I sent:

It is the first time I've ever made a flat ornament, and even though it went a bit wonky, I'm rather pleased with it. I must however, practice lining up the material against mountboard LOL.

HAED: Tickle My Tummy

I have also been doing a little bit more work on my HAED.  As you will remember, I finished the first page a little while ago and seemed to just steam through half of page 2.  I must admit though, I haven't really touched it for a little while due to my demanding Uni course. However, as of this evening, I plan on working a lot more on it and hope to have page 2 complete soon.

My only goal for this year is to finish my Summer Fairy. I had a bit of a row with the kreinik needed to do her wings, and after using 1 whole roll of it, ripped it all out of the fairy because I didn't like it.

To end this rather long post, I have a bit of a question for you stitchers out there.........what else other than kreink 002 can I use that will give a very similar or prettier effect? I do not like kreinik on her wings at all.

I would like to say, thank you in advance for any answers received, much appreciated.

Until next time my lovelies :) HAPPY STITCHING!!! xXx

  2. Hi Stephie! So glad I stumbled upon your blog... congratulations on finishing your course! Aced it, I hope *wink* Great progress on your HAED! I'm almost done with my second page, too (Noah's Ark), and it's been that way for nearly a year since my youngest was born in December. It was much too large to be working on with a newborn, and now he's starting to walk and sometimes gets grabby lol... When I first started it, I couldn't find the kreinik in the stores around here, so I had first purchased something that was some sort of light effects, I believe. It was a white sparkly thing, so that might work, but you might want to also get some Thread Heaven to make it a little smoother since it's a bit more coarse. I found the kreinik though and have been using that instead, but I think before I took out the little bit that I had with that looked nice. Also, fantastic floor stand! I need one, too :) Glad I stumbled across you and hope to get to know you :) ~Angie

  3. Yay for you on finishing that course Stephie! Now you can focus on the more important things :-)
Your fairy looks gorgeous - you're just chugging through her I see! I'm most intrigued by the floor stand - how do you find stitching on it? Is it not uncomfortable for your back (I'm picturing leaning over it to stitch)?
Sorry no help on the kreinik question - I use the DMC light effects /metalics as well as the Madeira metallics. While I have some kreinik in my stash I've never got around to using it though :o
Look forward to seeing your HAED progress

  4. I tend to use 2 quite large pillows behind my back to lean on and I rest the bottom of the frame on my lap whilst it is loose in the stand, that way then I can flip it around to start or end a thread. It is perfect for my fairy or pieces with large stitches, but it isn't very good for me with my haed due to my eyesight being rather rubbish and needing it up close to work on :)
