Cross Stitch Tag

Good Evening to you all. I hope you are all keeping well and dandy in this unusually hot day for the UK. Myself and the family have not long got back from a good old trek up the Brecon Beacons and oh boy was it a long walk.

Home now and after a nice cold shower I'm about to settle back down to some stitching, but before I do, I thought I would join in the Cross Stitch Tag questions.

Here are the questions and my answers:

Q1 - How did you start?  Who introduced you to cross stitching?
Back in 2008/9 I had been given some money for Christmas, so decided to have a look in HobbyCraft as they had a sale on (I used to make cards prior to stitching). Upon entering and wandering about the store, I spotted a tiger cross stitch kit by DMC called Wash and Brush Up and I just had to have it. I’ve been stitching ever since. I was introduced to stitching whilst I was in school at the age of around 6/7 but my mum also does cross stitch.

Q2 - Favourite theme or designer
My favourite designer of all time has definitely got to be Joan Elliott. She does the most amazing faces on fairies I have ever seen. Favourite themes I suppose are mythical and tigers.

Q3 - What brand of floss do you use?
DMC all the way. It is so soft and it doesn’t dry my hands out like Anchor used to.

Q4 - What is your fabric of choice?
28ct Evenweave hand dyed by Polstitches. I don’t think I could go back to using plain fabrics except for HAED’s.

Q5 - Do you use a needle threader or are you a floss licker?
I’m a floss licker LOL. I do not get on with needle threaders, I always seem able to bend and snap those.

Q6 - What brand of stitching frame (or hoop or otherwise holder) do you use?
I use a Q Snap frame. I don’t get on with hoops or roller frames so well.

Q7 - How many projects have you finished?
I have completed 4 large projects, and lots of little projects.

Q8 - How many completed works are hanging in your house?
I have 2 waiting to be reframed before hanging up.

Q9 - Do you stitch for gifts or for yourself?
I mostly stitch for myself, but have made gifts for others.

Q10 - Favourite finished cross stitch piece
My favourite has to be Summer Fairy by Joan Elliott. She was the most challenging yet enjoyable to stitch.

Q11 - Worst experience whilst stitching?
I used to use a pen when marking off my chart when I was working on Summer Fairy, and I hadn’t realised that the lid had fallen off and the pen was leaking onto the hand dyed fabric…the pen was bright orange and the fabric had no orange in it whatsoever.

Q12 - What do you love and hate about cross stitch?
I hate it when the thread tangles and then you lose your place stitching. I love how relaxing cross stitching is, I get lost in my own little counting world.

Q13 - Have you introduced anyone else to cross stitching?
I introduced my sister to cross stitching.

Q14 - The first project, did you finish it?
Yes I did. It took me a whole year to finish it (it was stitched on black aida too).

Q15 - How do you store your floss?
They are all on bobbins in storage boxes in numerical order.

Are you willing to play? I'd love to read your answers :D

I am hoping to have a page finish soon on a project I'm working on and then I will show you all.

Until next time.

I'm back!!

Good Morning to you all.

I am pleased to say that I have finally passed the first half of my course, with my last assignment scoring 95%. I have a small break now before revision starts for the exam that is coming up in September, so I can enjoy some stitching and days out with the family.

I hope that everyone is doing well, and I hope to have some updates soon (just need to see what is calling me the most first).

I do have to say though that I have a new start. I joined a Faces of Joan Elliott Mystery SAL and so far I'm loving it. I'm stitching it on a piece of fabric bought for me by Heather which is called Friendship (Polstitches fabric). I plan on having some pics to show soon as I only started stitching the first face on Saturday evening).

Hopefully I can be productive whilst I'm feeling unwell....here's to hoping anyways.

Until next time

xXx
