Stitching, Outing and A New Make

Hellooooooooooo everyone!!

Well, this last week has been a rather busy week on all fronts.

1. I learnt to make something new
2. Page 1 of Spring Fairy is completed bar the backstitch
3. We went out for the day on Saturday and I am now sunburnt

First of all though, I have to show off the something new I made. I've always been in awe of how to make these very pretty things called scissor fobs. So off I went to ebay and I bought myself some lobster clasp things (I already had the beads) and this is what I made:

Now, I think it is fab apart from the size of the lobster clasp, so I bought another bunch which are a lot smaller so when I get a chance, I will try and make another one using the smaller clasp. This took me about an hour to make as the thread I used (clear nylon thread) is extremely fiddly and very hard for me to see.

Now onto the stitching front. I have managed to complete the first page of stitching on my Spring Fairy and I am now in progress of doing the kreinik and backstitch. Here is how she is looking as of this morning:

I am hoping that today will see a heck of a load more backstitching done on her as I'm eager to start the next part of her.

I have also completed a square on a RR that I received. I am currently working in a RR where we all have picked our own separate themes. This RR had the theme of flowers, and here is what I stitched:

This took me about a day and half to complete and I just love the colours.

On Saturday, we went to a place called Bovington where we visited The Tank Museum for the annual Tankfest.  It was a great day had by all, but oh boy, myself and hubby are burnt lol.  Every few hours we are now plying ourselves with lotion to stop the stinging and itching.  I always catch the sun and so should have known to put some Sun Protection on, but I completely forgot about it haha. My fault.

A Few Updates - Pic Heavy

Well, what a week it has been here. The weather has been miserable all week, we've been busy sorting out rubbish and things to sell at a boot sale, a bit of stitching has been done, a restart has been made and then we had a flat tyre!! I think that is everything LOL.

On Friday and Saturday we spent the day at FIL's house sorting out hubby's old room where we store stuff that we can't fit into our house. We ended up having a major sort out of everything that was there. It is quite amazing how much junk one can find. Needless to say, we had a few bags of stuff that is just rubbish, a lot of stuff to sell and some to save up and give to charity. All that is left on the sorting front now is to sell off the stuff.

Come Saturday evening however (after all the garages closed) we found that we had a flat tyre! Typical. We rang our breakdown to see if they covered the repair of a tyre just to get us home (we had to travel 16 miles home), but no, they didn't. We ended up having to cram ourselves into my FIL's little car to get us home again until Sunday when we could have the tyre fixed.

On Sunday then, we had to travel back to FIL's place to return his car and also get the huge tyre off our car. What we thought would be a simple fix, turned out not to be so. As the nail we drove over went into the soft part of the tyre, we had to have a new one......£200 later and we have a new tyre.

As you can see, all the above meant that stitching time was extremely limited over the weekend, but I do have a few updates.

First up is Spring Fairy by Joan Elliott. As I mentioned in my last post, I would be bringing Winter Fairy and Spring Fairy into a rotation. I have brought them both out again and have accomplished a fair bit on Spring Fairy. Winter Fairy however had to be restarted, so the unpicking started.

I have also been stash shopping again LOL. I sold a kit that I wouldn't stitch on eBay, so took a trip to Polstitches and bought some lovely 9x13" fabric:

and again, more stash shopping. This time I went to Sew and So and bought this bundle:

On the stitchy front today, I'm working on something small, but I can't show any pictures just yet.

Hopefully this week will be a lot quieter and a lot more productive on the stitchy side for me.

TUSAL and a stitching update

Well, good evening everyone!

I'm a day late in posting my TUSAL report, but here it is. As you can see from the picture, I've had a very busy stitching month :) The threads in this jar come mainly from my HAED Moon Goddess, but also from my fairy RR.

Next up: I have finished getting my RR ready, and have now finished 2 fairies. It is now ready for the first posting date on the 22nd June.

I have had a tough time with the second fairy (Lavender Fairy - left in the pic) as if there is one colour I don't like, it is green LOL.

Now that this RR is packed up and ready for flight, I've decided that I want to get a wriggle on with both Spring Fairy and Winter Fairy by Joan Elliott. Being that the fabric is so dark for Winter Fairy, I've also decided that in daytime hours (9am-7pm) I will stitch Winter Fairy, and in the evenings I will stitch Spring Fairy.

I will update again once I have done a few more stitches on both.

New Charts

Well hello everyone!! We here in South Wales have been having some amazing weather and with it being half term last week, we were out pretty much everyday.

I have however, been stitching away when I've had chance and I am about half way through the second fairy on my RR. Once this fairy is complete, the RR is ready to be posted out for the 22nd June.

Yesterday afternoon/evening, I received a newsletter email from HAED (Heaven And Earth Designs) about a 50% sale they were having in honour of Father's Day. Well, I had to go and take a peek.

I did buy 5 charts too LOL. However, they are relatively small and measure between 6x6 inch and 7x7 inch. I bought the following charts:

A Large Update - Lots of Pics

Well hello everyone!!

I hope everyone is doing well. We have had some lovely weather here in South Wales, UK, until today that is. Today it has been raining most of the day :(

However, sunny or not, I have been a busy bee.  Myself and a few friends decided to start up a little Round Robin (RR). We decided to do a theme each, and so I decided that I would do a Joan Elliott one. 

I have so many JE charts that I highly doubt I'll ever get around to stitching so it was the perfect thing for me.

I chose my 8 designs, photocopied them and cut them down to a 60x60 stitch size. I also went shopping as we are stitching this RR onto aida, and I haven't any (what a great excuse), so I purchased some lovely fabric from Polstitches called Dawn Chorus.

Here is my fabric pictured with the charts I'm using:

I then went shopping once again for the specialty threads beads and so popped to 123stitch where I bought these:

As soon as my fabric arrived, I ironed it and sewed over the edges of the fabric to stop it fraying and made a start on the layout.  The below picture shows the layout I have chosen (the centre 4 boxes will be unpicked to become a title square where along with a title, the names of the stitchers and the fairies they stitched will go).

As you can see from the picture above, I also have room to add another 4 fairies if I chose to :)

The black outlines of the boxes are there only as a guide and once returned home, I will unpick and add a sparkle border with co-ordinating threads.

I have very nearly finished my first square on my robin (pictured below) and as soon as she is complete I will be making a start on the central box.
